i love the idea of an unconventional headboard - even more so if i could make it myself. it can truly dictate the feel of a room and is therefore the ideal decorating tool. here are a few that i like... other ideas?

best way to hide a mess?

fast food restaurants have known for years that the best way to hide messes is through multi-colored carpets (it always helps that they are frequently the same colors that are most likely to be spilled - red, yellow, and brown). it looks like that same concept is being adopted when it comes to kitchen backsplashes as well - with the fortunate variation on color. i think i like the look, especially in an otherwise simple kitchen, of a bright, somewhat-busy backsplash. what do you think?
