back to basics

with this amazing fall weather, i need windows. desperately.
these are window treatment ideas from bhg.
if you have outdated curtain fabric or old curtains don't fit your windows, cut and sew them into panel-style window shades with rod pockets. tension rods hold the shades in place and make them easy to switch out. i love the baseboards and low table under the window.

this is such a great solution for us apartment-dwellers who love built-in architectural features like window seats - and bookcases! place a bookcase on either side of the window, put a toybox in between, put a cushion on top, and use a bright roman shade!

these curtains were hung from a curtain rod installed several inches above the top of the window so they barely brush the floor. or you can have them bunch at the bottom for a more luxurious look - those amazing dark wood floors certainly help! i love the symmetry with the panels on the other side of the bed. and the color scheme and mixing patterns. looks like i just love this room - which is surprising considering i usually like a cozy rug.

these curtains started with plain purchased panels - you can add the ruffle yourself!
